Frequently Asked Questions

🚐 Commercial Vans & Ford Fitment

What size wheel nuts does my Ford Transit Custom need?
All Ford Transit Custom models (2012 to present) and Tourneo Custom models use M14 x 1.5 thread pitch wheel nuts with a 21mm hex head and a 60Β° tapered conical seat.
What is the difference between Transit Custom and Transit MK6/MK7 wheel nuts?
Older Ford Transit MK6 and MK7 models (2000–2014) use a coarse M14 x 2.0 thread pitch, whereas Transit Custom (2012+) and Transit MK8 (2014+) use M14 x 1.5. The thread pitches are incompatible and will cross-thread if mixed.
Why do factory Ford wheel nuts swell up, and how do I fix it?
Original Ford nuts use a hollow stamped tin cap over a carbon steel nut. Moisture causes rust under the cap, swelling the nut so a standard 21mm wrench won't fit. Lucidity Motorsport supplies solid 1-piece forged steel nuts with no caps to permanently prevent swelling.
What is the correct torque setting for Ford Transit wheel nuts?
Ford specifies 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) for Transit Custom and Transit MK8/MK9 wheel nuts. For older MK6/MK7 models, tighten to 180–200 Nm.

πŸ”„ Wobble Bolts & PCD Variation

Are wobble bolts safe to use on commercial vans?
Yes, absolutely. Our Bimecc wobble bolts are manufactured in Italy from Class 10.9 high-tensile steel and carry rigorous German TÜV approval. The floating collar bears the full clamping load perpendicular to the bolt shank, with zero lateral bending stress on the threads.
Can I fit BMW 5x120 wheels on my Vauxhall Vivaro or Renault Trafic?
Yes, on Vivaro A and Trafic II models (2001–2014) which have a 5x118 PCD. You will need M14x1.5 wobble bolts and 72.6mm β†’ 71.1mm spigot rings (both included in our complete kit). Note: 2014+ Vivaro B and Trafic Mk3 switched to 5x114.3 and cannot fit 5x120 BMW wheels.
Will wobble bolts pass a UK MOT test?
Yes. Wobble bolts are fully road legal in the UK and will pass an MOT inspection provided there is correct thread engagement (minimum 6 full turns) and proper torque.

πŸ” Locking Wheel Nut Keys & Removal

⚠️ Important Fitment Notice: Our replacement keys fit aftermarket Bimecc brand locking wheel nuts & bolts ONLY. They do NOT fit factory original manufacturer (OEM) locking wheel nuts fitted by car dealerships (such as original Ford, BMW, Audi, VW, Vauxhall, etc.).
I've lost my locking wheel nut key and don't know the code. How can I remove my wheels?
If your car has standard Bimecc security locks, our 4-Key Master Kit (covering Keys 81, 82, 83, and 84) allows you to test each key by hand until you find the perfect match. This safely unlocks your wheels without damaging expensive alloy wheel finishes.
Can I use an impact gun with a locking wheel nut key?
No. We strongly advise against air or battery impact guns on any locking wheel nut key. The high-frequency hammering shock can snap the small security teeth. Always loosen and tighten locking nuts by hand with a breaker bar or torque wrench.

β• Spigot Rings & Vibration

Why does my steering wheel vibrate between 50 and 70 mph?
When aftermarket alloy wheels have a center bore larger than the vehicle's hub spigot, the wheel sits off-center by just a fraction of a millimetre. At highway speeds, this produces an oscillating vibration. Fitting hub centric spigot rings creates concentric alignment and eliminates the vibration immediately.
Are polycarbonate spigot rings better than aluminium?
Yes. In the UK climate, aluminium spigot rings suffer from galvanic corrosion against steel hubs, seizing the wheels permanently in winter salt. Our high-grade toughened polycarbonate composite rings will never seize or corrode and comfortably handle high brake temperatures.
